A key element of the Khabarovsk transport system is in the final stage of construction

One of the largest construction projects in the Khabarovsk Territory is nearing completion. The overall readiness of the Khabarovsk Bypass highway is currently estimated at 80%. The work is carried out around the clock, with 1,500 people and 173 units of special equipment from VIS Group’s construction division engaged in the process. The commissioning of the first high-speed road in Russia’s Far Eastern Federal District is slated for 2021.

The highway is being built on a concession basis and engages extrabudgetary investments. VIS Group acts as a concessionaire and investor in the project, and Gazprombank is the financial partner. The created transport infrastructure will span 52.8 km, the main course of the route - 27.1 km, transport interchanges - 17.6 km, roads in isolated territories - 8.1 km. The traffic flow is estimated to reach 25,000 vehicles per day by 2025.

Most of the complex work associated with the construction of engineering structures has been fully completed - the installation of the subgrade, the laying of culverts and the construction of local rainwater treatment facilities. 24 bridges and overpasses located along the entire route are 96% complete. 31 kilometers of engineering networks, 32,000 meters of side stone and about 400,000 tons of asphalt concrete were laid.

Today, work is underway to reinforce the slopes of the embankment and road ditches, and plant greenery. The installation of the noise protection fence is close to completion; while the installation of the artificial lighting system along the entire length of the road is ongoing. Five toll collection points will be outfitted at various points, which will allow motorists to use the entire road or its individual sections. Their readiness ranges from 53 to 83%.

The Khabarovsk Bypass highway uses the most advanced systems for organizing and monitoring construction - 3D positioning equipment, 3D fixation of the conditions at the facility, calculation of work compliance using a 3D design model, control of material movement by GPS/Glonass systems, video monitoring of underground communications, video recording from drones and round-the-clock video broadcasting from key stages of construction. Physical indicators for the facility construction are being monitored daily.

After the completion of the construction stage, the VIS Group will operate the road until the end of 2031 under the terms of the concession agreement. A specialized company, Transtall regional toll road operator, was created within the holding's transport division for this purpose. Highway traffic control will be carried out by an intelligent automated system.

The high-speed road will be of key importance in the Khabarovsk Territory transport system. The launch of traffic on the new road will allow to move the transit transport flow out of the city and unburden the road network by 18%, reduce air pollution by one-third, and link federal highways A-370 Ussuri, R-297 Amur and A-375 East, contributing to the creation of a unified Chita – Vladivostok transport corridor, and providing access to the Bolshoi Ussuriysk island and China’s road network towards Harbin in the future.
