Filmmakers from the Siberian Federal District visited the bridge across the Ob under construction in Novosibirsk on a location tour

Over 30 representatives of creative industries examined the bridge under construction as a potential filming location. The II Siberian Forum of Regional Cinematography "New Vector. Siberia" is taking place in Novosibirsk, and filmmakers from the Siberian Federal District are participating in it. On Saturday, a tour of the main attractions of the Siberian capital that can become filming locations was organized for them. The forum organizers included the bridge under construction among these attractions.

The bridge crossing over the Ob River, which is being built by VIS Group under a concession agreement, is not only a major transport infrastructure facility, but also a structure that influences the city’s architectural appearance. The 114-meter pylon of the cable-stayed bridge has already become one of the dominant features in the center of the Siberian metropolis. Such objects are often used by filmmakers to shoot spectacular scenes. VIS Group’s representatives told the guests about the project and the engineering features of the cable-stayed bridge.

“The main work on the construction of the 1.5-kilometer bridge crossing was carried out in 2020-2023. Seventeen supports and a pylon were built, and the sliding of the span structures was completed during this period. In four months in 2023, a cable-stayed system with 70 cables ranging in length from 63 to 235 m was installed. It supports 3 spans of the cable-stayed portion of the bridge with a total length of 380 meters and a weight of over 21,000 tons. In September 2024, the bridge successfully passed a strength test. Today, the readiness of the bridge crossing is estimated at 98%,” said Anton Kolomeytsev, Chief Engineer of the Novosibirsk Territorial Administration of VIS Group.

The guests not only took photos by the pylon, but also drove along the bridge to the tunnel under the Trans-Siberian Railway on the left bank. Here, construction of extensive transport infrastructure with overpasses and a transport interchange, including 25 exits continues, and the facility may also attract the creators of new Russian cinema in the future due to its sheer scale.

The bridge, which is unofficially called “Central,” has already become part of the architectural landscape of Novosibirsk; this summer, landscaping will begin on the Mikhailovskaya embankment. The cable-stayed system allowed to preserve the vast promenade area and the City Beginning Park, without taking up their space with additional bridge supports. All this will create a point of attraction not only for filmmakers, but also for tourists visiting the city.
