On January 1, 2019, Ekologiya-Novosibirsk (part of VIS Group) has assumed its duties as a regional solid municipal waste treatment operator. Over the course of New Year’s holidays 9.7 tons of waste have been removed from the company’s zone of responsibility to scale-equipped landfills. 253 units of equipment have been operating in the streets of the city and the region. In the first 9 days of the year, company experts received 680 requests from city residents. Inspection tours and events in the headquarters related to the switch to the new solid municipal waste treatment system were conducted prior to the beginning of operations, feedback channels have been set up for the local resdents, and a front office has been made available to consumers.
Generally, the start of the operations of the new solid municipal waste treatment system went smoothly, without any serious setbacks. This fact was reported at the operational meeting at the Oblast administration. The head of the region noted that the switch of the Novosibirsk Oblast to the new waste treatment system was conducted in an organized manner, without major impediments. “This is just the start of our work in the new, more civilized interaction conditions in the waste collection, utilization and removal sphere. The reform’s main goal is not to merely switch to a new type of relations among participants, but to bring order to the industry. Even more work will have to be conducted in the course of 2019, and this work has started in a reasonably good, well-organized and controllable manner,” emphasized Andrey Travnikov.
On January 5, the mayor of Novosibirsk familiarized himself with the situation related to waste removal in Oktyabrsky, Pervomaisky and Sovetsky districts of Novosibirsk. “We have been preparing and considered various options. There are, in fact, problematic spots in the city, but in the context of the large number of waste being produced, especially before and during the holidays, the problem turned out to be much smaller than we expected,” the head of the city commented on the start of the regional operator’s work.
During the holidays, there was a field center operating in OOO Ekologiya-Novoibirsk, which not only responded to residents’ hotline calls, but also followed up on information in the media and social networks. Every reported fact led to operative measures, which allowed to avoid serious problems with waste removal.
