The award was jointly received by representatives of the project’s concession grantor and concessionaire – First Deputy Chairman of the Government of Yakutia Kirill Bychkov and Head of the Corporate Communications Department of the VIS Group Sergey Kozlovsky. The winners received diplomas and a commemorative trophy by Pavel Seleznev, CEO of ANO National PPP Center.
“We focus on cost-effective projects so that the effect of their implementation would cover the estimated burden on the republican budget, and the Lensky Bridge is an example of this. This project solves a global issue for modern Yakutia – transport accessibility for the residents will increase 4-fold from 20% to almost 80%,” said Kirill Bychkov.
Indeed, over the past decades the question of the need for a bridge across the Lena River has been raised more than once at the state level. Due to the lack of year-round land communication between the eastern and western parts of Yakutia, most of its population has no connection with the mainland for 5-6 months a year.
Lensky Bridge is a unique transport facility that will be built in the extremely harsh natural and climatic conditions of the Russian Far North and will have no analogues either in domestic or foreign bridge construction. The VIS Group in consortium with the state corporation Rostec implements the project throughout its entire life cycle: from design and organization of financing to construction and operation; SberBank is the financial partner. The project’s life cycle is 25 years, of which six years are allotted for design and construction and 19 years for operation.
