The press center of the Interfax-Siberia news agency in Novosibirsk hosted a press conference of OOO "Ecologiya-Novosibirsk" (part of VIS Group), the regional municipal solid waste management operator. The company answered questions from the federal and regional media regarding the current situation in the regional MSW transportation market.
The event was attended by Larisa Anisimova, CEO of OOO "Ecologiya-Novosibirsk", Sergey Kozlovsky, Head of the Corporate Communications Department at VIS Group, as well as heads of MSW transportation companies. Among the media representatives were journalists from key news agencies and business publications, including TASS, Kommersant and Interfax.
The regional operator presented its position on the amount of debt owed to operators for MSW transportation, previously revealed in the media, as well as the initial results of these companies’ inspections. In particular, in a number of cases, significant (up to 40%) overestimations of transported waste volumes, inconsistencies in the reported number of garbage truck trips with the actual numbers and non-compliance with the declared special transport routes were revealed. All of the above afforded the grounds to check the reports provided by carriers, which is stipulated by the signed agreements.
OOO "Ecologiya-Novosibirsk" also reported on the results of its activities in the first seven months of operation. During this time, 92% of the region’s population was covered by MSW removal services, including organized garbage collection from the settlements where this service has never been provided before. The company created a subscriber database, opened more than 30 client offices throughout the region, and organized several feedback channels. Work is also underway to update the container fleet.
One of the main goals of the countrywide reform of the MSW treatment sphere is to establish order and ensure complete manageability in the industry. Therefore, the main tasks being solved today by the regional operator in the Novosibirsk region are the fine-tuning of all technological processes and ensuring the transparency and objectivity of the data on MSW volumes.
