Sliding of the bridge span over the Ob River in Novosibirsk is 60% complete

The project to create a bridge across the Ob River in Novosibirsk is being implemented on schedule and under the terms fixed by the concession agreement. One of the main and most technologically complex stages is the sliding of the superstructure over the river bed. Its total length will be 776 meters, while all the work is divided into 16 stages. VIS Group’s construction division has completed the 11th stage, sliding 46 running meters over the river. The total length of the assembled superstructure was 465 running meters, which comprises 60% of its total length. A total of 6,786 tons of metal structures have been assembled since March 2021, including the launching girder. The total weight of the superstructure is 10,375.8 tons.

Construction of the pylon continues on the right bank of the Ob. The 114-meter-high structure will hold the 380-meter cable-stayed part of the bridge using 70 steel cables. To date, the monolithic body of the right pylon post has been cast to a height of 60 meters, and the left post – to 48 meters.

The VIS Group is the investor of the concession project to create a new bridge crossing. Due to the tight construction schedule and the need to launch technical traffic by the beginning of the World Youth Ice Hockey Championship, which will be held in Novosibirsk in late 2022 - early 2023, work is being carried out at 8 sites simultaneously. These are transport interchanges on both banks, a viaduct over the main passage, tunnels and overpasses. An extensive range of work is being carried out to rebuild and modernize engineering communications. As a result of the project, the capital of Siberia will get both a 5.1-km major transport infrastructure facility, and modernized engineering communications throughout the construction zone.

The concessionaire of the project for the construction of the fourth bridge across the Ob in Novosibirsk is the Siberian Concession Company (part of the VIS Group). The company has won the open tender held by the Government of the Novosibirsk Region in 2017. The financial partner is Gazprombank.
