The discussion participants assessed the introduction of new business models in the space industry and market and economic transformations that allow to build efficient interaction between the state and business community. The moderator asked Igor Snegurov to comment on the opportunities for the development of public-private partnership in the high-tech space industry, noting that today the holding possesses the best PPP practices in Russia.
The head of the VIS Group confirmed the interest of the business community in working in the space sphere and suggested using the potential of the private sector to accomplish the tasks that the industry is facing today. “Global experience demonstrates that the PPP mechanism has already positively established itself in the space sphere. Today the volume of the global market, according to some estimates, exceeds $350 billion, of which only 25% belongs to the public sector. We at VIS Group see tangible opportunities for the implementation of projects in this industry and are ready to consider them together with Roskosmos,” said Igor Snegurov.
Natalia Reznichenko, First Deputy Director General for Investments of the First Concession Corporation (part of VIS Group), participated in the “Investments in the Urban Environment” session. Among the participants were Deputy Prime Minister Vitaly Mutko, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin, Minister of Construction and Housing of the Russian Federation Vladimir Yakushev, Chairman of the VEB.RF State Development Corporation Igor Shuvalov, as well as heads of the largest Russian regions and cities.
The meeting centered on the creation of a comfortable urban environment and the collaborating with private enterprises that are capable of competently managing risks in investment projects and efficiently operating the established facilities. VIS Group’s portfolio already includes similar projects. The PPP project in Yakutia, which entails the construction of 12 social infrastructure facilities simultaneously, contributes to integrated territorial development and allows to create new points of growth in the city.
More than 150 business events are being conducted in the framework of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, including interstate business dialogues, interregional forums, panel sessions, business breakfasts and televised debates. The business program includes four thematic blocks, namely, “Russian economy: achieving national development goals,” “Technologies shaping the future,” “People first” and “The global economy in search of a balance”.

The “Space Economy: Potential of State and Business Interaction” session was held on June 7 at the SPIEF with participation from Igor Snegurov, Chairman of the Board of Directors of VIS Group. The event was organized by the Roscosmos State Corporation and dedicated to the development of private astronautics and related industries in Russia.
