The Sixth Inter-University Ecological Cup was opened today in Novosibirsk. Students from 7 higher educational institutions, members of the scientific and business communities and authorities gathered at Novosibirsk State University. The event is being held with support from the Oblast state executive authorities. OOO Ekologiya-Novosibirsk is a partner of the student environmental forum.
The engagement of young specialists in resolving the issues of solid municipal waste treatment – one of the key topics of the EcoCup this year. “There is, in fact, an entirely new waste treatment industry being created, while the ideology and principles of this work are changing. Starting on January 1, a single regional operator will be responsible for the entire complex of the waste collection, transport and treatment operations, and our company will act as such in the Novosibirsk Oblast. It’s always difficult to be the pioneer. The EcoCup will once again allow to draw the attention of one of the most socially active groups of our civil society – the students – to the existing problems. The combination of theory and practice, as well as collaboration, may allow to obtain a stable and efficient environmental result,” remarked the CEO of Ekologiya-Novosibirsk Larisa Anisimova.
The EcoCup’s main themes are the sphere of consumer and industrial waste treatment, evaluation of its effect on the environment, ecological payments for the negative environmental impact. The program allows teams to participate on-campus and off-campus. Sites have been established at the EcoCup specifically for experts’ work. Over the course of two days, the students of Novosibirsk universities and colleges will participate in intellectual environmental games and a roundtable discussion on the issues of interaction between society, business and authorities in preserving the quality of the environment, and will present their projects on the evaluation of the impact on the environment.
