Traffic is relaunched on a new exit at the left-bank interchange of the bridge in Novosibirsk

The left-bank interchange is the largest infrastructure facility of the bridge crossing over the Ob River in Novosibirsk. There will be 25 exits to connect the new highway with the existing street and road network. This is one of the largest and most complex interchanges in Russia. Today, work is simultaneously underway here on several exits, overpasses and a tunnel. Construction readiness is approaching 80%.

On August 27, traffic was relaunched according to a temporary scheme at exit 5 near Energetikov Drive. Here, the laying of the road surface has been finished, and work has been completed on the installation of a temporary trolleybus contact network. Currently, 3 of the 5 lanes are operating, and two more will be launched after the start of traffic through the tunnel in the Stanislavsky Street alignment. At exit 4 in the same area, work is underway on the placement of the bottom pavement layer. At exit 2, adjacent to the main route overpass, the bottom layer of the road surface has been completed on an area of 2,600 m2. The construction of retaining walls is being completed, and waterproofing of concrete surfaces is being carried out at exit 8 of the overpass with a double-track tram line towards Vatutina Street. Construction of the tunnel in the Stanislavsky Street alignment continues, as of today, the development of the ramp section pit is almost complete, and work is underway to prepare for the installation of a plugging layer and the unfastening of the sheet pile wall. All of the bridge’s main infrastructure facilities are currently at a high level of readiness. The bridge crossing itself is 96% complete, and the main road overpass is at 92% readiness. The right-bank transport interchange is 89% complete, and traffic is expected to start up on the last, third, exit in the near future. Over 430 workers and engineering and technical personnel, as well as 67 units of equipment and machinery are involved in the construction of all infrastructure facilities of the new bridge.

Concession for the construction of a bridge crossing in Novosibirsk is one of the largest transport projects in Siberia. The total length of the six-lane highway will exceed 5 kilometers, and its capacity will be over 70,000 cars per day. The estimated speed of movement is up to 100 km/hr. VIS Group is the concessionaire and investor of the project and, in addition to the construction and operation of the facility, is responsible for attracting extra-budgetary funds. To date, all of the investor’s financial obligations have been fulfilled completely. Difficulties with the project’s budget financing did not allow to launch full-scale work this summer. The grantor and concessionaire continue to search for a way out of the current situation for the speedy completion of construction.
