VIS Group plans to complete the construction of the cultural cluster building in Yakutsk by the end of the year

The implementation of a large-scale public-private partnership project continues in the capital of Yakutia. The cultural cluster that has no analogues is being created on the shore of Lake Saysary. The integrated complex of the State Philharmonic and the Arctic Center for Epic Literature and the Arts with a total area of almost 33,000 m2 will include the Philharmonic, two theaters, and an exhibition and business event space under one roof. The total auditorium capacity will be 1530 seats.

To date, pile groundwork and foundation have been completed, the builders continue to erect the monolithic building frame. Its readiness is estimated at 60%, which means that over 13,800 m3 of concrete have been poured. Works on the installation of walls and columns, floor slabs, stairwells are being carried out at the second-and third-floor levels, meanwhile, work is also underway on the installation of the building's reinforced monolithic frame.

Today, about 180 builders are working at the site, and their number will increase to 360 in the near future. Three tower cranes, truck cranes, concrete mixer trucks, and other construction equipment and mechanisms are involved. Works on the preparation of the esplanade base have been completed, and 6,500 m3 of sand have been poured. The next stage will be the immersion of 360 piles, which will allow to raise the area above the permafrost, protecting it from damage in case of soil thaw. A pedestrian recreational area will be located on the open area near Lake Saysary. A total of about 12,000  m2 around the future cultural complex are being transformed into a well-maintained public space with landscaped areas, lawns and flower beds. A 177-spot parking lot will be provided for visitor cars and buses, including 22 dedicated spots for people with limited mobility.

“The main task for the current construction season is to complete the construction of the building’s monolithic frame. This will create a warm circuit and ensure the continuation of work in the winter. We also plan to install translucent façade-framing structures and metalwork in auditoriums. The roof of the building will house 3 urases (a type of the traditional summer dwelling of the Yakuts), and we will proceed with the installation of their metal carcasses and folding roofs. An individual heat supply unit will be installed. Completion of this work will prevent the interruption of work in the winter,” said VIS Group Deputy CEO Artyom Melikhov.

Under the terms of the agreement on public-private partnership, the commissioning of the complex is scheduled for December 2024. The new cultural cluster will be equipped with unique equipment: the multi-level transformable panoramic stage and orchestra pit platforms, turntables with lifting mechanisms will allow for different variations of stage “relief.” For the first time in the republic, lighting, multimedia and acoustic equipment will allow holding events of any level on one site. The facility is unique both in terms of the implemented architectural solutions and the climatic conditions in which it is being built. To date, there are no such cultural centers anywhere in the world built in permafrost conditions.
