45% of the first layer of asphalt concrete on the Mytishchi high-speed chord under construction has been laid

VIS Group continues construction of the Mytishchi high-speed chord (Vinogradovo - Boltino - Tarasovka). More than 1,000 people and 150 units of special equipment are engaged at one of the largest road projects in the Moscow region. An alternate MKAD to the northeast of Moscow is being created in a concession format under an agreement with the Government of the Moscow Region. At the same time, road pavement is being laid on different sections of the 16-kilometer route. To date, the first, 16-cm layer of asphalt concrete has been laid over 7.5 km. This required over 52,000 tons of asphalt mix, which is produced at VIS Group’s modular plant directly on the construction site.

The multi-layer road “pie” is laid down in several stages. After the top layer of the foundation, two more layers (10 and 5 cm) will have to be laid. The last layer will be made of crushed-stone-mastic asphalt concrete. It is a modern material that offers a range of advantages over conventional asphalt, including wear resistance, durability, and resistance to moisture and chemicals. Thanks to the modifiers of the asphalt concrete mix contained in this material, it offers a higher adhesion to the wheels, increasing traffic safety.

The highway is being built according to modern standards and will eliminate same-level traffic flow intersections. For this purpose, 6 transport interchanges, 11 bridges and overpasses are being built. The four-lane highway is assigned the 1B category, and will allow the cars to pass with an estimated speed of 120 km/h. The Mytishchi chord will be able to provide a throughput capacity of up to 39,000 vehicles per day.

Other related transport infrastructure is being built in addition to the roadway. 8 out of 11 artificial structures envisaged by the project are already in the works. Transport interchanges will ensure the connection of the new route with nearby settlements. The metal overpass structures were installed at the intersections with the Povedniki-Belyaninov highway, Pirogovskoye Highway, with approaches to SPO Severnoye and across the Chanka River. Over 3,000 tons of metal structures have already been installed. The installation of concrete beams of the overpass across the street Bezymyannaya street in the Cherkizovo village. Work is underway in the tunnel at the intersection with the Old Yaroslavl Highway to install a foundation slab and erect walls.

The VIS Group is the project investor; after the completion of the construction of the highway in 2024, the holding will carry out its commercial operation until 2032.
