Cast asphalt is being laid on the cable-stayed section of a bridge under construction in Novosibirsk

The installation of road pavement on the spans of the 380-meter cable-stayed bridge began after the completion of cable installation. Currently, this work is 25% completed in spans 13 and 14 under the 114-meter pylon on the right bank. At the same time, waterproofing of the spans of the cable-stayed section continues. After installing a multi-layer road surface, work will be carried out on installing dampers, connectors and protective caps, re-tensioning and adjusting cable stays, as well as waxing the active anchors.

Cast asphalt concrete is used on bridge crossings to ensure the durability of the road surface. A special paving process in which asphalt is heated and poured onto the road surface creates a strong bond to the road surface and a smooth surface that can withstand heavy traffic and extreme weather conditions. This coating lasts much longer than regular asphalt, which reduces the need for regular repairs.

VIS Group continues to work on all transport infrastructure facilities of the bridge concession. These include two tunnel overpasses, a toll booth, four elevated pedestrian crossings and about a dozen exits of the left bank interchange. The main passage overpass on the left bank is 84% complete, and the overall construction readiness of facilities on the left bank of the Ob is estimated at 75%. In total, about 1,400 people and 194 pieces of special equipment are engaged at the construction site.

The bridge being built under a concession agreement between the Government of the Novosibirsk Region and VIS Group will become one of the largest and unique infrastructure facilities in Siberia. The H-shaped pylon has already become a city landmark, attracting the attention of Novosibirsk residents and guests. The bridge design also has a number of features, from the bend of the channel part to the cable-stayed section, which allowed to raise the roadway above the existing right bank overpass and preserve the park area on the embankment. The multi-level transport interchange being created on the left bank has no analogues in Russia and Europe and comprises 25 exits. This complex configuration is due to the need to ensure connections with the existing road network from the maximum possible number of existing roads.
