Head of Yakutia Aisen Nikolaev assesses the progress of construction of one of the largest cultural clusters in the Russian Far East

As part of a tour of the facilities under construction in Yakutsk, the Head of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) Aisen Nikolaev and the head of the city Evgeny Grigoriev, together with a delegation of public representatives and artists visited the construction site of the State Philharmonic and the Arctic Center. A new cultural cluster is being built by VIS Group under a public-private partnership (PPP) agreement with the Government of the Republic.

The holding was represented at the site by the Chairman of the Board of Directors, Sergei Romashov, and Project Director Vladimir Nakhankov. Due to the continuing negative temperatures, the main work will be carried out inside the building. “On the first three floors, partitions made of foam blocks are being installed; plastering work, floors are being insulated and primed. The formwork is being dismantled and preparations are underway to begin structure concreting. Façade work is being carried out and transformer substations are being removed from the pile installation area under the esplanade. In total, about 150 people are employed at the facility,” said Vladimir Nahankov.

Galvanized steel aprons are being installed on façade structures. Materials’ compliance with the harsh climatic conditions of Yakutia will not only ensure the reliability of the structural elements, but will also help reduce the long-term cost of the building’s operation.

“Work is in full swing, and is proceeding according to schedule. I can say that this will be a unique, beautiful facility. Just in time for the start of the Children of Asia Games, the building’s façade will take its final appearance. Work is also being completed on the purchase of the necessary lighting, sound and multimedia equipment. I instructed not to slow down the pace of work in order to commission this vital facility for our republic’s cultural environment on time,” shared Aisen Nikolaev following a visit to the construction site.

“What we saw inspires us. Even at the stage of preparing the technical specifications, we consulted with musicians and specialists from the Mariinsky Theater. The world-famous acoustics engineer Yasuhisa Toyota came to Yakutsk and provided his recommendations. The concert hall under construction will comply with acoustic requirements. The team is really looking forward to it, we are also preparing creatively, there will be new programs that involve the invitation of highest-level musicians,” said the CEO of the G.M. Krivoshapko State Philharmonic of Yakutia Tuyaara Pestryakov.

The integrated complex of the State Philharmonic and the Arctic Center of Epic Literature and the Arts is a building with a total area of almost 33,000 m2 and a height of 36.7 meters. It will house a philharmonic society, 2 theaters, and a space for exhibitions and business events under one roof. The total capacity of the auditoriums is 1530 seats. Under the PPP agreement, VIS Group will not only build, but also equip the facility with all the necessary turnkey equipment: from a modern transformable stage to lighting, multimedia and acoustic equipment.
