Khabarovsk Bypass receives high praise from Russian President

Details of the visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin to Khabarovsk, which took place on January 11, 2024, have emerged. They were reported by the Governor of the Khabarovsk Territory, Mikhail Degtyarev, in an interview with the Guberniya TV channel. Among other things, the head of state was shown the first expressway in the Russian Far East, the Khabarovsk Bypass.

“The visit is significant, because Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin has not been to Khabarovsk for over 10 years,” emphasized Mikhail Degtyarev. “Of course, his main goal was to communicate with people, to see everything with his own eyes. We showed him the Khabarovsk Bypass, we drove along this route to reduce gridlocks in the city. There were gridlocks, and we, of course, apologize to motorists, but we need to adhere to safety requirements. We tried to minimize the inconvenience for Khabarovsk residents. That’s why the president saw this road and valued it highly. It is a strategically important route, including the border crossing to China, which is being built at Bolshoy Ussuriysk.”

As the governor said, the route of the presidential motorcade was selected so that Vladimir Putin himself could see the large construction projects that are significant for Khabarovsk.

Khabarovsk Bypass is a concession project implemented by VIS Group. The expressway was built under an agreement with the Government of the Khabarovsk Territory, and traffic on it was launched in July 2022. Currently, the route is operated by Transtoll, part of VIS Group. Thanks to the concession project, it was possible to move the main flows of transit transport out of the regional capital, relieve congestion on the road network and reduce the load on it.

The project may be extended to Bolshoy Ussuriysky Island, where a checkpoint across the border with China, which will create an international transport corridor “West – East”, is slated for construction.
