Large-scale exercises of the Ministry of Emergency Situations took place on the Khabarovsk Bypass highway with the involvement of air ambulances

For the second year in a row, the Khabarovsk Bypass highway, built and operated by VIS Group, has become a platform for conducting exercises aimed at the elimination of the consequences of traffic accidents. Today, specialists from the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia, the fire department, rescuers, the traffic police and the disaster medicine service worked at the site of the toll collection point (TCP) near the village of Vostochnoye. The exercise involved 50 people and 10 pieces of special equipment, including personnel from the Transtoll highway operating company (part of VIS Group).

The simulated accident involved a two-vehicle collision and a truck entering a traffic control building. This year, the exercise included landing a rescue helicopter on the roadway and practicing extinguishing fire at a TCP. Elimination of the consequences of the accident was conducted as usual - the fire at the TCP was eliminated, the conditional victims were evacuated to the nearest hospital with the help of air ambulance.

“The exercises were successful, the personnel and management bodies received the necessary knowledge and skills, which in the future will contribute to the successful elimination of emergency situations,” said Alexey Petruk, Deputy Head of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia for the Khabarovsk Territory.

“Transtall monitors the traffic situation on the Khabarovsk Bypass around the clock using an automated traffic control system. Accidents are recorded by video cameras installed along the entire route. Relevant data is transmitted to the rapid response services and displayed on road screens to inform the drivers,” said Sergei Kornienko, head of the Khabarovsk territorial department of VIS Group. “The company’s employees and special equipment were involved in the exercises, helping to work out the action protocol in case of a large-scale accident in conditions as close as possible to real ones. All the participants completed their tasks.”

Traffic along the Khabarovsk Bypass was opened in July last year; to date, over 3 million cars have traveled along the highway. This is the first highway in the Russian Far East and the first transport concession project in the region. The project investor is VIS Group. Under the terms of the concession agreement, the Group is responsible for the operation, maintenance and maintenance of the road until the end of 2031. Transtoll has more than 150 employees, including a technical control service equipped with repair teams and special equipment.
