In July 2018, OOO Ekologiya-Novosibirsk (part of VIS-Group) has received the status of a Regional solid municipal waste operator in the Novosibirsk Oblast. With the support from the regional government, the company has organized public meetings with heads of districts, managing companies, community members and the media, aiming to clarify the issues related to the changes in the system of solid municipal waste treatment. Over 20 such events have already been held, arousing significant interest.
The purpose of these meetings and seminars is the explication of the essence of the regional operator's work and the changes in federal legislation that will come into force starting on January 1, 2019. They entirely change the mode of municipal waste treatment and build an integrated regional-level system of solid municipal waste collection, transportation, storage and treatment.
The changes will affect all organizations, that’s why the meetings are open to residents of private houses and apartment buildings, heads of managing companies, enterprises, medical and educational institutions. The meetings center on the issues relevant to the organization of waste collection and transportation, principles of price formation and holding tenders among transport companies. Primary attention is devoted to the problem of unsanctioned waste dumps. Participation of representatives of community self-government organizations allows to study the situation in more depth in specific quarters and receive feedback regarding the decisions being made.
These changes are aimed at structuring industry operations, bring them out of the shadows, creating modern municipal infrastructure systems that comply with all the requirements of the sanitary and epidemiological legislation and do not have a negative effect on the environment or the health of the population. “The new principles of waste treatment provide the opportunity to control the quality of services provided to consumers,” remarks the CEO of Ekologiya-Novosibirsk Larisa Anisimova.
Conducting explanatory work, promoting environmental culture and advocacy of separate waste collection are some of the regional operator’s key business dimensions, which will take up its responsibilities on January 1, 2019.
