Over 3.5 million cars drove along the Khabarovsk Bypass

The first expressway in the Russian Far East, the Khabarovsk Bypass, is becoming a driver of the development of the regional road network. Since the traffic was launched in July 2022, 3,508,845 vehicles have passed through it. The route creation project was implemented by VIS Group. This is the first regional road concession to receive co-financing from the federal budget.

Currently, the Transtoll company (part of VIS Group) carries out core operation of the road, providing its technical maintenance and servicing. Traffic control is carried out using an intelligent automated traffic control system (ATCS). It monitors compliance with the speed limit, allows to quickly identify incidents and inform first responders about them. The traffic control center warns drivers about deteriorating weather conditions and informs the operating service about the appearance of ice on the roadway for emergency response. Along the 27-kilometer route there are 39 surveillance and monitoring video cameras, 88 electronic displays and variable information signs, 22 vehicle detectors, a weight and dimensional control system, as well as eight violation recording systems and a weather station. 30 units of special equipment are used to maintain the road in wintertime.

The project, implemented with the involvement of VIS Group’s private investments, contributes to the socio-economic development of the region and becomes the supporting infrastructure for the development of the road network of the entire Russian Far East. Currently, the Government of the Khabarovsk Territory is working on a project for the construction of the so-called 4th stage of the Khabarovsk Bypass, which will connect the already existing road with the checkpoint on the border with the People's Republic of China, located on Bolshoi Ussuriysky Island. The international East - West transport corridor will ensure the connection of federal highways and regional roads with the road network of the neighboring state, increase trade turnover, as well as its speed, and create conditions for the intensive development of border areas.

The Khabarovsk Bypass runs from Khabarovsk International Airport in the north to the village of Ilyinka in the south and connects three federal highways: A-370 Ussuri, R-297 Amur and A-375 Vostok. The total length of the constructed transport infrastructure exceeds 52 km, including 24 bridges and overpasses.
