Preparations are being made for the installation of facade structures with a total area of over 7,000 m2 at the construction site of a cultural cluster in Yakutsk

VIS Group continues to increase the pace of construction of the unique cultural cluster in Yakutsk. Builders have already poured 20,745 cubic meters of concrete to construct the monolithic frame of the building of the State Philharmonic and the Arctic Center for Epic Literature and the Arts. Work is carried out around the clock; VIS Group employs over 260 people at the construction site, more than 100 of them on the night shift.

To date, the roof slab has been concreted over block “A”, which will house the Philharmonic rehearsal hall. This allows work to begin on the construction of the building’s façade structures. Curvilinear stained-glass windows will be installed along its perimeter. The total glazing area will be almost 7,500 m2. The height of the floors of the Philharmonic building and the Arctic center reaches 6 meters, which is why the project provides for the use of glass up to 5.5 meters long and weighing up to 500 kg. It will use highly selective glass that provides effective sun protection while still allowing in a lot of visible light. The special coating will reduce heat loss in the premises; the high energy efficiency of the materials used in the project is especially important in the harsh climatic conditions of Yakutia. Load-bearing aluminum facade structures have already been delivered to the site, and a specialized company performing high-rise work will begin work in the near future. For this purpose, the installation of a crawler truck crane with a lifting capacity of 280 tons is being completed at the site.

Work continues on the installation of a pile field for the esplanade, which will allow the future walking area to be raised above the permafrost. 75% of the total number of piles, specifically 265 out of 349 have already been installed. To continue work at sub-zero temperatures inside the facility, preparations are underway to install closed thermal circuits in the building blocks. This will allow engineering work and installation of partitions to be carried out in the winter. The equipment for the individual heating point has been delivered to the construction site, and work is being carried out to remove two transformer substations from the perimeter of the esplanade building.

The 33,000-m2 cultural cluster is built on the principles of public-private partnership under an agreement between the Government of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) and VIS Group. This unique building will create a completely new level of space for holding musical, theatrical, and exhibition events and will allow to present both the rich cultural history of Yakutia and its contemporary art. A new 15,000-m2 public space will be created on the adjacent premises. Here, as part of the PPP project, VIS Group will reinforce the shoreline and improve the pedestrian embankment.

The project, which integrates two national theaters, the State Philharmonic and ritual halls in one building, is unique in its parameters and technological equipment. Cutting-edge technical solutions in the field of theatrical art and acoustics will be implemented here. The cultural cluster in Yakutsk will be on a par not only with the largest theater centers and concert halls in the Russian Far East, but throughout the entire country.
