The bridge over the Ob River in Novosibirsk will be almost 80% completed by the end of 2022

Aide to the President of the Russian Federation Igor Levitin, First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma of the Russian Federation Alexander Zhukov, Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of the Russian Federation in the Siberian Federal District Anatoly Seryshev and Governor of the Novosibirsk Region Andrey Travnikov visited the exhibition display at the International Siberian Transport Forum in Novosibirsk today.

Dmitry Pronchatov, Chairman of the Board of Directors of VIS group’s Transport Division, and Vladislav Vavilin, Deputy CEO of VIS Production Company, told the guests about VIS Group's concession to build a bridge across the Ob River in Novosibirsk.

“The largest road concession in Siberia is being implemented in accordance with the schedule; the current construction readiness is 55%, and it will reach 78% by the end of the year,” said Vladislav Vavilin. Igor Levitin asked about the resolution of the issues related to the participation of foreign partners who are leaving the Russian market. “The sanctions imposed by unfriendly countries did not have a significant impact on the progress of the project. All equipment, including the imported cable-stayed system, was purchased in advance. Some difficulties arose with the delivery and foreign specialists who were supposed to install the cables, but all the problems have already been resolved, and this work will be carried out by a specialized Russian company,” explained the Deputy CEO of the general contractor.

The multi-level left-bank road junction will be one of the largest facilities implemented under the concession. It comprises 25 exits, a tunnel-type overpass at the alignment of Stanislavsky St., 7 flyovers and 4 elevated pedestrian crossings. The left-bank transport interchange is a unique engineering structure of its type in Russia, and its technical characteristics have no European analogues.

The project will result in a complete reorganization of the traffic pattern on the left bank of the Ob in Novosibirsk. Roundabouts at intersections will become a thing of the past, and will be replaced through passages without traffic lights from all adjacent streets. Tram traffic on Shirokaya St. with access to Vatutina St. will be preserved, for which purpose an overpass with a double-track tram line will be built. Pedestrian street crossing will be enabled through elevated covered pedestrian galleries, all of which will be equipped with elevators for people with disabilities.

At the right-bank transport interchange, two out of three exits have been put into operation, with vehicles already using them according to a permanent pattern. The last - third - exit will be commissioned after the completion of work on the cable-stayed bridge section. By the end of the year, the construction of the 114-meter pylon will be completed; it will hold an almost 30,000-ton highway section using 70 cables. Installation and tensioning of the cables is scheduled to begin in early 2023.

June 23 is the main day of the Siberian Transport Forum. For the first time, numerous federal leaders are taking part in the Forum. Andrey Shimkiv, Chairman of the Legislative Assembly of the Novosibirsk Region, Igor Kostyuchenko, Deputy Head of Rosavtodor, Alexander Gritsay, Head of the West Siberian Railway, and Dmitry Pronchatov, Chairman of the Board of Directors of VIS Group’s Transport Division, also participated in the plenary session discussion.
