The Mytishchi Expressway under construction will be equipped with a “free flow” toll system

A barrier-free toll system will be used on the new expressway in the Moscow region, which VIS Group is building northeast of the Moscow Ring Road. The initial project and concession agreement provided for 5 barrier-type toll collection points, but at the initiative of the Government of the Moscow Region, the concessionaire changed the design solutions. An agreement has already been signed with the system integrator; over 30% of the necessary equipment has been delivered to VIS Group warehouses.

“Thanks to the initiative of the Ministry of Transport and Road Infrastructure of the Moscow Region, we were able to improve the project and replace the barrier toll system with a free-flow system, which will significantly increase the road’s capacity and allow motorists to pay tolls, with transponders, including those used on other toll roads,” said CEO of VIS Group Sergey Yudin.

At the moment, the redesign of the toll collection points, which provided for the construction of automobile gateways with barriers, is being completed. The corrected design documentation, after agreement with the Ministry of Transport of the region, will soon be sent for consideration to the state examination.

The free-flow system software is completely domestic and similar to that used on toll roads of the Avtodor Group. 98% of the equipment is produced by Russian manufacturers and companies from friendly countries. The remaining 2% are components from Europe, including transponder antennas, which have no analogues on the market today. There are no problems with the purchase of specialized equipment; the holding’s specialists have worked out the supply logistics, including the use of parallel import mechanisms.

The Mytishchi Expressway is the largest concession project in the Moscow region, and is implemented on the private initiative of VIS Group. The new highway will reduce travel time to Moscow for residents of the Moscow region and improve transport accessibility for almost a million people by combining three highways - Yaroslavskoye, Ostashkovskoye and Dmitrovskoye. The predicted traffic is 39,000 cars per day.
