The reconstruction of utility networks has been completed by 20% on the reconstructed section of Afanasovskoye Highway

to increase the capacity of the section adjacent to the Mytishchi Expressway under construction. The concession project of VIS Group became an incentive for a large-scale renovation of the road network adjacent to the new route. The reconstruction of a 2.7 km section of the road is being conducted by the construction division of VIS Group under a government contract.

The roadway of Afanasovskoye Highway will be expanded from 2 to 4-6 lanes. There will be 3 elevated pedestrian crossings, updated public transport stops, noise barriers and landscaped sidewalks. To date, the transfer of utilities – which is one of the most labor-intensive stages of the project – has been 20% completed. The total volume of excavation work performed is about 440 m3.

As part of the work on the reconstruction of electrical networks, carried out using the method of horizontal directional drilling, 5 out of 7 covered crossings were completed, four of them for external electrical networks and one – for external lighting. Modernized electrical networks will ensure reliable power supply and lighting of the road. The development of trenches and pits for water supply, communication networks and other city communications continues. Excavation work is underway at two exits of the main highway route; trial loading of piles under pedestrian crossing pavilions has begun around Dmitrovskoye Highway.

The reconstruction of Afanasovskoye Highway will create a stable transport connection between Dmitrovskoye Highway and the Mytishchi Expressway, which is being built under the concession, providing a high-speed direct route to Yaroslavskoye Highway. It will duplicate the northern section of the Moscow Ring Road from 82 to 95 km. As a result of project implementation, transport accessibility of residential areas in Mytishchi will improve. The reconstructed section will be free to use.
