VIS Group and the Khabarovsk Territory signed an agreement on the introduction of interoperability on the Khabarovsk Bypass highway

As part of the implementation of the first transport concession in the Russian Far East for the construction and operation of the Khabarovsk Bypass highway, VIS Group and the Government of the Khabarovsk Territory signed an additional agreement on the introduction of interoperability. The parties agreed that the concessionaire will join the Interoperator Cooperation Agreement, which currently unites the largest companies - owners of the toll sections of Russian highways and transponder issuers.

The document was signed by Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Khabarovsk Territory - Minister of Economic Development Viktor Kalashnikov and member of VIS Group’s Board of Directors Sergey Romashov. The ceremony took place at VIS Group’s headquarters in Moscow.

The signing of the additional agreement was required, since the concession did not initially provide for a contactless fare collection system using third-party transponders. However, realizing the demand for and the prospects of interoperability, VIS Group provided everything necessary for its implementation when creating the toll collection system along the Khabarovsk Bypass. Transponder payments will minimize the time required to pass through the toll gates.

After VIS Group’s accession to the Interoperator Cooperation Agreement, Khabarovsk Bypass will be included in Russia’s unified toll road system. This means that it will be possible to pass through it using the same transponders as on the M-11 Neva, M-4 Don, Central Ring Road and other highways.

Khabarovsk Bypass comprises over 27 kilometers of modern roadbed, 3 bridges, 21 overpasses, and 5 transport interchanges. Highway traffic was opened in July 2022. Today, the average daily traffic intensity is 6,000 vehicles. In total, about 2.5 million vehicles have used the highway since its opening.
