VIS Group presents construction progress of one of the largest cultural clusters in the Russian Far East to head of Yakutia

On July 29, as part of a traditional tour of socially important facilities, the Head of the Sakha Republic (Yakutia) Aisen Nikolaev visited the construction site of the State Philharmonic and the Arctic Center for Epic Literature and the Arts building in Yakutsk. This project is being implemented on the principles of public-private partnership with VIS Group. The cultural cluster with an area of over 33,000 m2 on the shores of Lake Saysary will become one of the largest in the Far Eastern Federal District and will be unparalleled in terms of its technical characteristics and construction conditions. The designs for the interior decoration of the auditoria, foyers, and other spaces have already been prepared and are being discussed and approved.

Viktor Alekseenko, CEO of the Seventeenth Concession Company (part of VIS Group), told the Head of Yakutia about the construction progress. Today, more than 200 people are working on the site in two shifts.

"A sand base for the esplanade has been laid in front of the building’s main entrance, and reinforced concrete piles are being driven. This will allow raising the open promenade area above the permafrost soil and prevent its deformation in case of thawing. The project includes 360 piles, of which 62 have already been driven. Currently, the deliveries of façade glazing are fully contracted and will start arriving on the site in August. The glass façade will run along the entire perimeter of the building, and the exterior outline will be adorned with mounted openwork structures," said Victor Alekseenko.

"The main objective is to fulfill the plan for the construction season: to erect the monolithic frame of the building and close the thermal circuit. Heating needs to be brought into the building to ensure that construction and installation works can be carried out during the winter," noted Aisen Nikolaev.

In the section where the Arctic Center for Epic Literature will be located, the reinforcement of the seating in the dress circle of the Olonkho Theater’s auditorium is underway. The reinforcement of the walls and the installation of ceiling panels at a height of over 13 meters is taking place in the theater’s rehearsal hall. This part of the building has the most complex reinforcement structure and requires careful preparation and gradual concrete pouring. In the Philharmonic section of the building, work continues placing concrete over the structures of the main hall, with another concrete floor of about 200 m3 poured recently. In total, nearly 15,000 m3 of concrete have been poured into the monolithic body of the building to date.

At the same time, work on connection to off-site utilities is being carried out. The main line of the pressurized sewage system has been laid, preparations are underway for the installation of suction wells. The next stage is planned to be the installation of the building’s internal communications. After the piling field of the esplanade is completed, the installation of the heating main is planned to start. The duct for the main has already been laid, and the equipment for the individual heating plant will arrive at the site in September.

The large-scale project is characterized not only by the complexity of the structural solutions applied but also by the climatic conditions associated with the presence of permafrost, seismic activity, and sharp temperature fluctuations. One building will house the G.M. Krivoshapko State Philharmonic, the P.A. Oyunsky Sakha Academic Theater, and the Olonkho Theater. For creative teams to fully realize all their ideas, the complex will be equipped with the most modern technological equipment, and the best specialists in this field are working on the acoustics of the auditoria. The new cultural center will have a ceremonial hall, a library, a café, and much more.
